Cats and
Robbers:
Work in Progress (Completed)
Here is the start to the
newest Working Class Cat. It will be created on Strathmore
Vellum Bristol board with Prismacolor pencils. 11x14 inches.
This is the initial sketch.... As you can see I was going to
add a mouse partner, but it was getting too busy.

The characters on the top are
the robber mice the cat is looking for.
And here is the cleaned up
sketch. The policeman was going to have long sleeves, but I
think the short look better in this pose, they show more
muscle structure. Also the little cop mouse was taken out of
the picture, makes a stronger composition without him there.
On to coloring... will post
more later! Have to get three pieces done by the
21st!

Ah, the
police has
arrived... well, at least most of him. There are so
many different colors of police uniforms so I went with the
traditional Boys in Blue. One of our frame shop
customers is a CHP officer, I was staring at his uniform to
see the details and how it fit. He must think I'm
nuts!
Our
police cat
has pants now... and is moving with great stealth through the
alleyway. Do they make trashcans like that anymore?
I remember them from when we were kids.
.

Mice is nice...
The robbers have arrived with their haul. Sneaking
overhead our fearless policeman does not even suspect.

And here he is,
protector of the people (or at least the cats!). I like
the alley in this one, I usually don't like doing architectural
work but this one was fun. I also usually stay away from
blues, but this one has a nice overall tone.
Aren't the clothes
on the line fashionable? I can't believe the mice didn't
steal those!
